The basics
Admission to Augsburg Botanical Garden includes access to its gardens, themed areas, glass houses, and walking trails. Start at the grand entrance fountain, then follow the scenic walkways through the Roman, farmer’s, and sunken gardens. Peek inside the glass house to see tropical and subtropical plants, flowers, and cacti. Don't miss the Japanese garden, orchard, and rose garden. End things with a cold drink or light lunch at the café, which includes a summer beer garden.

How to get there
Augsburg Botanical Garden is located south of downtown Augsburg, about a 10-minute drive. Either take the No. 2 tram to Augsburg Haunstetterstraße station, from where it’s a less than 20-minute walk, or take bus 32 (marked Augsburg, Zoo/Botan. Garten) from Moritzplatz, which stops about a 2-minute walk from the entrance.
When to get there
Augsburg Botanical Garden is open year-round, and each season has its own highlights. Seasonal favorites include the spring butterfly show and summer rose displays. Winter brings festive decorations and the chance to admire the snow-covered garden. Opening hours vary throughout the year, but the gardens are generally open daily from 9am, with later closing times from late spring through summer.
Seasonal events at Augsburg Botanical Garden
Several annual events take place at Augsburg Botanical Garden, many of which draw large crowds. The most popular include the Fascination Tropical Butterflies display in early spring (mid-February through March) when the glasshouses are filled with thousands of butterflies; the Magical Lights illumination display, which takes place on Saturday evenings from mid-June to mid-August; and the festive Nativity Scene, which is open from the 1st Sunday of Advent through to Epiphany.
