Bath Hotel and Spring House (Old Bath House)

Charlestown, Nevis

Built in 1778, the once opulent Bath Hotel and Spring House was the Caribbean’s first tourist hotel, with the international jet set flocking to its therapeutic hot springs. While it’s no longer a hotel, the volcanic baths and the relaxing landscaped gardens are open to the public.

The Basics

Relax in these historic hot springs after a day of bike riding. Most guided tours start in Nevis capital, Charlestown, moving on to Nelson and Hamilton Museums, the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, and the Jewish synagogue before pedaling to the Bath Hotel and Springs. If you are coming from St. Kitts, jump on a catamaran and sail over to Nevis for the day. Once docked on the island, you’ll transfer to a comfortable van for a sightseeing excursion to the atmospheric Nisbet Plantation and pretty Pinney's Beach, for lunch and swimming and sunbathing.

Things to Know Before You Go

During the summer, the island is quiet and there is little chance for a hurricane, which typically comes in September or October.

Museum of Nevis History
