Bruny Island Berry Farm

The basics

You'll find all sorts of berries grown at the farm. Strawberries and raspberries are the main attraction, but you’ll also find boysenberries, blueberries, and blackberries, along with lesser-known fruits such as youngberries and jostberries. Non-berry highlights include a creek in front of the farm that makes an excellent setting for a stroll and plenty of picnic tables for visitors who want to bring their lunches out to the farm.

How to get there

Bruny Island Berry Farm is, as the name suggests, located on Bruny Island. It takes just under two hours to drive to the farm from Hobart. Public transportation isn’t an option, so it’s best to either rent a car or visit as part of a guided tour that includes transportation.

When to get there

Bruny Island Berry Farm is accessible to the public from spring through autumn, usually opening in late October or early November and closing for the season in April. Opening days vary, but they’re typically open daily during the mid-December–January peak season, except on holidays. It’s a good idea to come first thing in the morning on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Visiting Bruny Island Beaches

While on Bruny Island, it's worth checking out some of the area's pretty beaches. The best known is Adventure Bay, which offers relatively calm waters, ideal for a summer swim. The Neck Beach is among the most scenic, with white sands and turquoise waters that are great to look at but are too cold and rough for all but the most experienced surfers.
