Calle Triana

Calle Triana, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, 35002

The buzzing shopping street of Calle Triana slices through the heart of Vegueta, Las Palmas’ oldest district. Lined with elegant 16th- to 19th-century buildings, the boulevard’s historic architecture is a backdrop to this modern shopping area, home to a wide selection of high-street stores, clothing boutiques, restaurants, and cafés.

The basics

If you’re looking to shop or eat in Vegueta, Calle Triana is the place to be. It is where you’ll find international brands such as Zara, Stradivarius, and Mango, along with local boutiques, food outlets, souvenir stores, restaurants, bars, and cafés. Most walking and bike tours of Las Palmas include a stop at Calle Triana. Visiting with a guide provides insight into the city’s colonial history and heritage buildings.

Things to know before you go

  • Gran Canaria’s Tourism Office is at the north end of Calle Triana, and there’s also a visitor information booth at San Telmo Park.

  • You’ll find everything you need along Calle Triana, including a supermarket, pharmacy, ATMs, and currency exchange. There are public restrooms nearby at San Telmo station.

  • The wide boulevard and most of its shops and restaurants are accessible for those in wheelchairs and strollers.

How to get there

Calle Triana is in the Vegueta neighborhood of Las Palmas on the city's southeast coast. The central boulevard runs from Vegueta Market (Mercado de Vegueta) at the south end up to San Telmo Park. Parking lots and bus stops are at both ends, but the street is pedestrianized, and it’s easiest to get around on foot.

When to get there

As one of Vegueta’s busiest streets, Calle Triana can get crowded on weekends, especially for peak shopping hours. Most shops are open daily from mid-morning until late evening, but some close earlier, and smaller shops may also be closed on Mondays, so check ahead. The street is lively in the evening, and you’ll find plenty of drinking and dining options along Calle Triana and the surrounding streets.

A walking tour of Las Palmas’ Vegueta District

The cobbled streets and colorful buildings of the Vegueta neighborhood offer a glimpse into Las Palmas’ rich history, and this atmospheric area is also home to some of the city’s most visited attractions. Browse the exhibitions at the Casa de Colon museum, a 15th-century building where Christopher Columbus once stayed; peek inside the striking Gothic pointed-style Santa Ana cathedral; and visit the Museo Canario museum before grabbing lunch at one of the many tapas restaurants.
