• The Casentinesi Forest National Park is not entirely wheelchair accessible, thanks to uneven trails and slopes.

When to Get There

To take advantage of the park’s seasonal offerings and best weather, visit between March and September when electric boats run on the lake and conditions are ideal for hiking, biking, and canoeing. However, keep in mind that this is peak season and visit midweek for a quieter experience. Autumn is also a splendid time to visit, although the park is accessible year-round.

Mushroom Picking

For the cost of a license, you can enjoy a spot of mushroom picking in the Casentinesi Forest National Park. Look out for porcini, prugnoli, marzuoli, and more, depending on the season, and consider mushroom foraging with a local guide who can point you in the right direction. Just keep in mind that you cannot pick mushrooms without a license, as this is a protected area.
