The basics

The park is divided into seven themed zones, each with its own set of attractions. Circus-like Magic Town is home to a drop tower, ice rink, fun house, and twisty car ride, while guests get dizzy on Whirlwind Island’s half pipe, spinning tea cups, chair swing, and bumper cars. The aptly named Screaming Zone is home to the world record–holding 10 Inversion Roller Coaster, and Happy Kingdom delivers pint-sized fun for little ones. Guests can cool off at Water World on bumper boats, a flume or a family raft ride, or watch a 4D or 360-degree film inside the Phantom Zone. Rainbow Bay has a bit of everything, including a pair of roller coasters, a giant frisbee, and a vintage car ride.

Things to know before you go

*Book your tickets ahead of time to skip the line at the entrance.

*Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to do a fair amount of walking.

*Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and plenty of water, particularly if visiting during the warmer summer months.

How to get there

A free shuttle to the park departs from Hanxi Changlong Station in Guangzhou every 15 minutes during park hours. The station can be reached on Subway Line 3.

When to get there

The theme park is open daily throughout the year. Plan to arrive first thing in the morning to hit up some of the top attractions before the lines get long. If you spend the entire day (or return in the evening), you can see the nighttime stunt shows and performances.

Chimelong Tourist Resort

Chimelong Paradise is only one part of a larger tourist resort in Guangzhou’s Panyu District. The Chimelong Safari Park is home to more than 500 animal species, including giant pandas, koalas, pygmy hippopotamuses, and white tigers, while the Chimelong Birds Park is the perch for an additional 100 species of rare birds. Chimelong Water Park ranks among the largest in Asia—a perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
