How to Get There
Getting around the Lake District is easiest by private vehicle. The closest major train station is Windermere, which is connected to Coniston town by the hourly 505 bus. Many tours of the area offer round-trip transportation from major cities such as London and Liverpool.
When to Get There
Coniston Water is an impressive sight at any time of year, balmy in the summer and full of dramatic views in the winter. The Steam Yacht Gondola operates between March and October, and private boat rentals are available all year round.
