Diego Rivera House-Museum (Museo Casa Diego Rivera)
Positos 47, Guanajuato, Jalisco, 44100
Visit this museum to see Diego Rivera's early childhood home, which has been turned into a museum dedicated to his life and work. Alongside original artworks and the personal effects of Rivera—one of Mexico’s most influential muralists and artists—you may also see temporary exhibits from other artists.
The Basics
Inaugurated in 1975, the 3-story Diego Rivera House-Museum displays a robust collection of Rivera’s personal belongings, artwork, and restored furniture. Come to learn more about Rivera as both person and artist. Witness the development of Rivera’s artistic stylings, thanks to some of his early sketches, and take the opportunity to explore the colonial house’s courtyard and garden, before continuing your tour of—or visit to—Guanajuato City. Guided tours of the area often stop at the museum.
