Esplanade Park
Connaught Drive, Singapore, Singapore, 179682
Part of Singapore’s heritage-rich Civic District, the sleek Esplanade Park boasts some of the nation’s most interesting historical landmarks. Top sights include the Lim Bo Seng Memorial, a fine example of Chinese architecture; the Cenotaph war memorial; and the Victorian-styled Ta King Seng Fountain.
The basics
Other highlights of Esplanade Park include the 19th-century Dalhousie Obelisk, which pays testament to Singapore’s colonial past; the site of the demolished Indian National Army Monument, now a wooden information panel; and Queen Elizabeth Walk, a riverside promenade that commemorates the late British monarch. Plenty of sightseeing tours pass by Esplanade Park, including downtown walking tours and river cruises. Some tours include tea tasting and a traditional hawker dinner for open-air food.

What to see in Singapore’s historical Civic District
Hailed as Singapore’s heritage hot spot, the Civic District doesn’t disappoint when it comes to notable sights. It’s home to the iconic Raffles Hotel where you can sip a Singapore sling and toss peanut shells onto the floor and to the gleaming St. Andrew’s Cathedral, the largest Anglican church in the city-state. Don’t miss the National Museum of Singapore, which boasts the accolade of Singapore’s largest and oldest museum.
