POINT OF INTEREST

Fiabilandia

Via Gerolamo Cardano 15, Rivazzura, Emilia-Romagna, 47924

Just inland from Rimini’s popular beaches, the Fiabilandia amusement park offers an alternative day of fun for kids. Centered around Lake Bernardo, the park includes a number of themed areas with rides geared primarily toward younger tots, though the 4D cinema and water rides are entertaining for the whole family.

The basics

Opened in 1965, Fiabilandia is one of the country's oldest theme parks, though it has updated its attractions over the years and continues to be a favorite break from the beach for families vacationing in Rimini. With around 20 rides, there is plenty to satisfy smaller kids, including gentle carousels and coasters, whimsical themed areas like the Valley of Gnomes and Magic Village, a pirate boat straight from Peter Pan, and a park train that is a welcome respite for the foot-sore. Older siblings can take in the 4D cinema shows and higher-octane water rides, which are likely to appeal to a more thrill-seeking set.

Things to know before you go

  • Dining options inside the park include ice cream and snack bars to sit-down restaurants, so even choosy kids will find something to satisfy.
  • The park is completely accessible to wheelchair users, though accessibility information for each of the park’s rides and attractions must be requested at the entrance.
  • Strollers are available to rent, and the park’s restaurants offer changing tables and highchairs. There is a souvenir shops inside the park.

How to get there

Fiabilandia is located in Rivazzura, halfway between the resort towns of Rimini and Riccione. If you aren’t coming by car or taxi, you can take bus 9 from the Rimini train station.

When to get there

The park is open from April through September all week long, and on weekends in October. Note that it can get very crowded during the school holidays, which run from June through August.

The Adriatic Riviera

The beaches lining Italy’s Adriatic coast are among the most visited in Italy, more for their convenience and all-inclusive services than for their beauty. During the day, the beach clubs of Rimini and Riccione are family-friendly oasis with loungers and umbrellas, changing cabinas, playgrounds, and organized activities. After sunset, the club scene comes to life at some of the largest and most famous discos in Italy, with live music and DJ sets until dawn.
