Spend a day in the water at the largest floating water park in northern Thailand. Located in an abandoned limestone quarry outside of Chiang Mai, the 33-acre (13-hectare) Grand Canyon Water Park offers plenty of opportunities for water fun in the form of waterslides, splash pools, watercraft, and inflatable obstacle courses.
Grand Canyon Water Park has something for just about everyone. Thrill seekers can go ziplining, cliff jumping, or wakeboarding, then recover from the adrenaline rush in the sunbathing area. Young travelers might head to the kids zone, filled with balls, balloons, and miniature slides. Or, paddle away the afternoon in a canoe or kayak.
To save time at the entrance, book your ticket in advance. Daily passes, multiticket passes, annual passes, and passes that include wakeboarding are available.
Grand Canyon Water Park is a must for families and water park enthusiasts.
The entrance fee includes a lifejacket, which must be worn at all times.
Trained lifeguards are always on duty.
Lockers, swimsuits, towels, goggles, toys, canoes, kayaks, and action cameras are available for rent.
There’s an additional cost for wakeboarding.
Outside food and drink aren’t permitted, but there’s a restaurant and café on-site.
About 9 miles (15 kilometers) from downtown Chiang Mai, Grand Canyon Water Park is easily reached by scooter, taxi, tuk tuk, or songthaew.
Open year-round, Grand Canyon Water Park is busiest during the peak tourist season, November through March. For fewer crowds, get to the park early, or go during the rainy season (summer).
West of Grand Canyon Water Park, Doi Inthanon National Park is home to the highest mountain in Thailand. A popular day trip from Chiang Mai, park highlights include the twin stupas, Wachiratharn Waterfall, and plenty of rice terraces. Or, wander the Hmong markets, Karen villages, and many nature trails.
