And it’s not just any cooking class: You’ll visit a market just like the locals to procure ingredients for your chosen dish.
The basics
50+ dishes are on the menu at Green Bamboo Cooking School. You choose one, which you’ll work on perfecting with a Vietnamese chef. You’ll also get to benefit from—and taste—the dishes your peers choose. Choose from goi cuon (fresh spring rolls), banh xeo (savory pancakes), bun chay (vegetarian rice bowls) and dozens more traditional dishes. Once it’s class time, you’ll head to a local market for your ingredients before heading into the classroom for a hands-on journey into Vietnamese cuisine.
Things to know before you go
When you book, simply email the staff your dish choice.
Hotel pickup is standard—note your hotel and room number in your reservation for this complimentary service.
Class sizes vary. If yours is small, extra dishes will be added for variety.
If most class dishes don’t meet your dietary requirements, the staff will make a few dishes suitable for you to try.
How to get there
The staff at Green Bamboo Cooking School is all about making your Vietnamese cooking experience nothing but joyful. When booking your reservation, simply note your hotel and room number, and the staff will pick you up. Otherwise, the school can be found right off Cua Dai Beach, just up the sand from Hoi An Beach Resort.
When to get there
The staff will let you know when they’ll come to your hotel for pickup—be ready about 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Otherwise, arrive at Green Bamboo 15–20 minutes before your class to grab a drink (water and ice-cold beers provided), meet your fellow chefs, talk to the staff about any questions you may have, and get settled in.
