Hong Kong Wetland Park
Wetland Park Road, Hong Kong SAR, Hong Kong
Escape the concrete jungle of Hong Kong and get in touch with nature at Hong Kong Wetland Park, an ecological park dedicated to conservation and education. The park consists of re-created wetland habitats for the native wildlife of the New Territories, and offers an entertaining and informative outing for the whole family.
The Basics
The park covers an area of 151 acres (61 hectares) and includes wetlands, mudflats, mangroves, ponds, streams, bird blinds, a butterfly garden, a crocodile enclosure, and a series of boardwalks and viewing platforms. The 107,639-square-foot (10,000-square-meter) visitor center offers interactive exhibits on subjects related to wetlands and conservation, plus a theater, café, children’s play area, and indoor viewing gallery. Wildlife at the park includes about 235 species of birds, as well as amphibians, reptiles, fish, crabs, mudskippers, butterflies, and dragonflies.
Visit Hong Kong Wetland Park independently, or as part of a sightseeing tour, such as a bike tour of the New Territories. Other sights may include the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the historic town of Yuen Long, or Tai Fu Tai Mansion.
