Kallithea Springs
Leof. Kallitheas 80, Rhodos, Greece, 851 00
Known for its thermal waters since ancient times, a spa resort was built at Kallithea Springs in the 1930s to take advantage of the location’s therapeutic waters. Recently restored to its former glory, Kallithea Springs today is a popular beachside resort destination, and an idyllic place to spend a sunny day, special event, or wedding.
The basics
It’s easy to spend a day relaxing at Kallithea Springs, with its pretty beach, crystal clear waters, and amenities that include sunbed and chair rentals, a beach bar, and a cafe. Don’t miss the renovated Rotunda, floors and pathways lined with pebble mosaic, lush gardens, and scenic views of Kallithea Bay. Many Rhodes sightseeing tours, whether by e-bike, car, bus, or boat, include a stop at Kallithea Springs, though its proximity to Rhodes Town makes it easy to visit independently.
Things to know before you go
There’s a fee to access Kallithea Springs and additional fees for beach-chair and bed rentals, as well as food and drinks.
Kallithea Springs no longer offers thermal or therapeutic waters.
Bring flip-flops or water shoes as the beach is rocky and full of pebbles.
The sheltered bay is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
How to get there
Kallithea Springs is located 5 miles (8 kilometers) from Rhodes Town. It’s an easy drive from Rhodes, taking the coastal road toward Faliraki, and there’s plenty of free parking onsite. Taxis are also an easy option. Visitors can also take the bus from Rhodes Central Bus Station. Many sightseeing tours also include a stop at Kallithea Springs, with transportation by land or water included.
When to get there
Kallithea Springs is open daily from 8am to 8pm. Summer is the most popular time for visiting Kallithea Springs. Plan to arrive early to claim a good spot if you’re visiting in July or August. Time your visit for late spring or early fall for pleasant weather and smaller crowds. Many tours also stop at the springs for an hour or two.
Other nearby beach options for your visit
Several other pretty beaches can be found within a short distance of Kallithea Springs: Tasos Beach, Oasis Beach, and Nikolas Beach. All three feature a similar rocky-beach area with calm and clear waters, lounger rentals, and food options. Oasis Beach also offers a beach bar and beach parties with live DJs and bands.
