Langkawi Sky Bridge
Langkawi, Kedah, 7000
A unique structure with spectacular views of Malaysia’s Langkawi archipelago, the Langkawi Sky Bridge is a curved suspension bridge on Mt. Machinchang. The 410-foot-long (125-meter-long) span hangs from a single pylon, 328 feet (100 meters) above the ground, offering excellent views of the jungle-covered mountains below and the Andaman Sea beyond.
The Basics
Opened in 2005, the Langkawi Sky Bridge is an engineering feat that’s very different from a traditional, straight bridge supported from below. Thousands cross the bridge not just to reach the other side, but to enjoy the experience and surroundings and to admire the structure. Many city tours of Langkawi include a ride in the SkyCab cable car up to the Sky Bridge.
Things to Know Before You Go
There’s an entry fee to the Sky Bridge, with different prices for Malaysian and foreign nationals. Purchase tickets in advance, if possible, as it gets crowded.
The bridge can hold up to 200 people at a time, which means that visitors may have to wait at busy times.
There are glass panels at various points along the bridge, from which you can look down into the forest below. Travelers who are afraid of heights should avoid standing on these.
How to Get There
Access to the Sky Bridge is via the SkyCab cable car, which transports visitors to the top of Mt. Machinchang. The SkyCab departs from Oriental Village, about half an hour by taxi from Langkawi.
When to Get There
It’s best to visit the Sky Bridge when the weather is fine. The SkyCab may close due to high winds, rendering the Sky Bridge inaccessible. Plus, the views are better when the sky is clear.
Walk the SkyTrail
Active travelers will enjoy a guided walk on the nearby SkyTrail, which runs from the SkyCab’s upper station to its lower station. The easiest trail to the middle station can be done in around 45 minutes, whereas the more challenging trail to the bottom station takes over two hours. Enjoy the densely forested landscape along the way, and learn about the flora and fauna from a guide.
How do I get tickets for Langkawi Sky Bridge?
You can buy tickets for Langkawi Sky Bridge from the Sky Bridge ticket station. To reach the ticket station, take the Sky Cab cable car from the ground level before taking the Sky Glide funicular (or climbing the 324 steps) to the Sky Bridge entrance. You can also book tickets online.
How much does an admission ticket for Langkawi Sky Bridge cost?
An admission ticket for Langkawi Sky Bridge costs 6MYR (Malaysian ringotts) for adults and 4MYR for children. Langkawi Panorama sometimes offers promotions where you can get discounted entry tickets to Langkawi Sky Bridge if you also buy tickets for Sky Cab, Sky Globe, and Sky Glide.
What is the best time to visit Langkawi Sky Bridge to avoid crowds?
The best time to visit Langkawi Sky Bridge to avoid crowds is during the week in the early morning as close to opening time as possible. Try to avoid visiting around public holidays, such as Chinese New Year and the Christmas season. The low season in Langkawi is September–October, which is also the monsoon season.
Are there guided tours available for Langkawi Sky Bridge?
While your standard admission ticket doesn’t include a guided tour of Langkawi Sky Bridge (since it’s easy to explore independently), plenty of guided tours of Langkawi Island include a visit to Langkawi Sky Bridge, along with a ride in the Sky Cab. These tours typically include round-trip transfers from your hotel.
Are there any restaurants or facilities on Langkawi Sky Bridge?

There are plenty more restaurants and facilities in the Oriental Village, from which you take the Sky Cab. Is Langkawi Sky Bridge suitable for people with mobility issues?
