Marina Barrage
8 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore, Singapore, 018951
Completed in 2008, and stretching across the mouth of Marina Channel in central Singapore, Marina Barrage created the 15th reservoir in the island nation and its largest catchment. Besides providing a water source, it also acts as flood control in low-lying areas and is a popular leisure and recreation area.
The basics
Most visitors take advantage of the leisure and recreational opportunities at the barrage, including walking, skating, and biking across the barrage, taking in city views, enjoying picnics, or flying kites from the grass-covered rooftop, and cooling off at the Water Playground. Water recreation, including kayaking, boating, and dragon boating, is also popular in the reservoir. Marina Barrage is featured on several sightseeing tours of Singapore, including walking, biking, and Segway tours. It’s also easy to visit independently. Tours of the barrage are also available.
