Benguela Cove

The basics

Visitors can choose among a variety of wine-tasting experiences, including regular 45-minute tastings, private tastings, a vineyard safari, a sabrage demonstration, cellar tours, and even a wine-blending session. Wine and food pairings are also offered, as well as other dining options, with two restaurants on-site. Additional activities include a boat tour, kayak and e-kayak tours, and an art gallery visit, while kids can enjoy adventure golf, a splash pad, and a jungle gym. Villas are also available for guests to spend the night.

How to get there

Benguela Cove is located in the Western Cape Winelands, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) northwest of Hermanus and about 62 miles (100 kilometers) southeast of Cape Town. Plenty of parking is available, including disabled parking. Taxi and shuttle services are available as well.

When to get there

Benguela Cove is open daily from morning to night in the summer, and closes earlier in the winter. It’s best to book tastings in advance to guarantee a spot. Visitors should plan to spend about 4 to 5 hours at the estate to fully experience its different offerings, and can even spend the night. Benguela Cove also hosts special events throughout the year.

Benguela Cove Art Gallery

Benguela Cove is also home to a contemporary art gallery, which features paintings, sculptures, and other works by more than 30 South African artists. There’s no fee to enter the gallery, which you can explore while sipping wines from the estate, and the space is open daily, with extended evening hours in the spring and summer.
