The Basics

Although the park is off the beaten path for tourists, it's a big hit with Udaipur-area families. Highlights include the Pendulum Slide, a U-shaped slide that takes riders up and down; the enclosed capsule slide; the Flipper Dipper tube-slide, which can be tackled solo or in tandem with another rider; and the Zig Zag Slide, with three lanes for racing. There’s also a restaurant and fast food counter for those who want to stick around for lunch.

• Bikinis in this part of India are rare, and women might feel more comfortable with one-piece swimsuits and T-shirts.

How to Get There

Marvel Water Park is located in the Shiv Nagar neighborhood of Udaipur, south of the main touristy area around Lake Pichola. It's about a 15-minute drive from both the City Palace and Udaipur Railway Station in the center of town and is easy to get to by auto rickshaw and taxi.

When to Get There

The water park is open daily from morning until evening. It's a year-round attraction, though it's at its most popular during the hottest times of the year (April through June). Weekends, and particularly Sundays, tend to get busy here, so visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Udaipur for Families

Udaipur is often positioned as an adult destination, owing largely to its romantic palaces and lakes, but like pretty much everywhere in India, kids are welcome (and celebrated) here. Besides the water park, other places those with kids won't want to miss include Shilpgram, an open-air crafts village with handicrafts and reproduction houses, and the Under the Sun Aquarium, featuring over 100 types of fish.
