Mirante do Morro das Pedras

One of southern Florianopolis’ most famous viewpoints, Mirante do Morro das Pedras offers panoramic views of the pristine coastline that this part of Brazil is famous for. From here, you can admire the white sand and turquoise water of Praia do Caldeirão, Praia da Armação, and Praia do Morro das Pedras, and sometimes see as far as Campeche Island.

Mirante do Morro das Pedras is one of the island’s most popular places to watch the sunrise, so get up early and bring a flask of coffee and your camera to enjoy this colorful spectacle. The viewpoint is often featured on south Floripa sightseeing tours, which also tend to visit Lagoa da Conceição, a popular place for water sports and sampling seafood, and Praia do Campeche, one of Floripa’s most stunning beaches.

- A 15-minute walk away, you’ll find a handful of rustic bars and restaurants at Morro Das Pedras Beach.

How to get there
There’s a bus stop conveniently located right beside the viewpoint—take bus 500, 562, 563, 564, 4120, 4125, or D-564 to Rodovia Francisco Thomaz dos Santos – SC-406. The hop-on, hop-off Floripa sightseeing bus also stops here.
When to get there
While the viewpoint is always open, it’s best to visit for sunrise—though you’ll likely share the spot with some large crowds at this time. For the best weather in Florianopolis, avoid the rainy season from September through November.
