Focused on the art of Filipino sculptor Ramon Orlina, known for his glass sculptures, Museo Orlina sits atop Tagaytay Ridge with views across Lake Taal and its miniature volcano. Over five storeys and a sculpture garden, the museum explores Orlina’s work, including scale models of monumental pieces. It also displays other local artists.

There’s a small charge to visit Museo Orlina. Most travelers arrive from within the Tagaytay area and often visit other nearby ridge attractions such as People’s Park in the Sky and Puzzle Mansion. It’s also possible to tour the museum on a day trip from Manila. Most travelers explore without a guide, taking in the clearly labeled artworks. Be sure to head up to the roof terrace for sweeping views across Lake Taal and the volcano within a volcano.

How to Get There
Museo Orlina is located atop Tagaytay Ridge in the middle of the Tagaytay conurbation, 37 miles (59 kilometers) south of Manila. Travelers based in Tagaytay who don’t have their own wheels can ride a jeepney along the ridge road: It’s about 2 miles (3 kilometers) east of Olivarez Plaza. Buses from Manila leave from the Pasay station, but it’s not a practical day trip on public transport.
When to Get There
Museo Orlina is open from morning to early evening, from Tuesday through Sunday. It’s quietest during the working week, but rarely crowded even on weekends. Look out for special exhibitions and live performances, which are sometimes advertised around town.
Who Is Ramon Orlina?
A former architect born in 1944, Ramon Orlina has worked in glass since 1974. He initially created abstract, angular sculptures but more recently has focused on sensuous reimaginings of the female form. While best known in his native Philippines, Orlina has exhibited, won prizes, and sold pieces at auction internationally.
