Museum of Las Fallas (Museo Fallero)
Plaça de Montolivet 4, Valencia, Spain, 46006
Valencia’s Fallas festival is an annual pyrotechnic spectacle on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. If you can’t make it to the festival, there’s always the Museum of Las Fallas (Museo Fallero), where you can experience the festivities’ color, culture, and energy year-round.
The basics
Housed in a former convent, the Museum of Las Fallas’ top draw is its display of ninots. Ninots are satirical effigies made of papier-mâché that are paraded through the city and burned in bonfires for the Fallas festival on March 14. The ninots at the museum were spared (by popular vote) throughout the years. The museum provides information on how the ninots are built and memorabilia from past festivals, including posters and videos.
The museum is typically a stop on self-guided audio tours of Valencia.
