Orlando Museum of Art

Located near downtown Orlando, the Orlando Museum of Art showcases a wide range of art in its collection of more than 2,400 items, in media such as painting, sculpture, and photography. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum offers a rotating series of temporary exhibits, traveling exhibitions, and educational programs.

The museum’s collection can be divided into several categories: African Art, Art of the Ancient Americas, Contemporary Art, and Contemporary Graphics. See items such as textiles and pottery from Africa and Mesoamerica, intricate gold and silver objects and jewelry, and cutting-edge modern graphics and mixed-media pieces. The museum also presents a constant rotation of temporary exhibits, numerous off-site exhibitions, as well as an expansive art enrichment program, which includes guided tours, workshops, art-appreciation classes, seminars, lectures, and films.

The Orlando Museum of Art is located inside Loch Haven Park, in downtown Orlando. It’s easiest to drive, and parking is available on-site and across the street. The closest SunRail station is AdventHealth, about a half mile (0.8 kilometers) away.

The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, with limited hours over the weekend, and is closed on major US holidays. Free admission is offered on the first weekend of every month and on select Saturdays. The first Thursday evening of the month, the museum stays open late and hosts an arts party with live music and a cash bar. Most visitors spend between one to two hours here.

Art lovers have numerous options in Orlando. In addition to the Orlando Museum of Art, the city is home to the Mennello Museum of American Art, the Cornell Fine Art Museum, the CityArts Factory, the Grand Bohemian Gallery, and the Henao Contemporary Center. There are also a large number of art galleries around town.
