Phuc Kien Assembly Hall (Fujian Assembly Hall)

Dating back to 1690, it’s renowned as one of the most impressive in the city, featuring an ornate gateway, intricate mosaics, and colorful interiors filled with sacred statues, bronze bells, and lacquered artworks.

How to get there

The Assembly Hall is located in the pedestrianised Hoi An Old Town. It’s easily reached on foot from any of the central attractions, just two blocks north of the riverfront.

When to get there

The Assembly Hall is open daily from 7am to 5.30pm. By far the most atmospheric time to visit is during one of Hoi An’s many Chinese festivals. The Spring Lantern Festival (Tet Nguyen Tieu) and the autumn Full Moon Festival are two of the biggest, but the hall celebrates around a dozen different festivals each year.

Hoi An’s Assembly Halls

There are five Assembly Halls in Hoi An’s Old Town, all of which have central courtyards and temple shrines. Along with the Kien Fujian Assembly Hall, there’s the Quang Dong Assembly Hall, built by Cantonese merchants and known for its bold gateway; the 19th-century Trieu Chau Assembly Hall, with a shrine to General Phuc Ba; the Trung Hoa Assembly Hall, now a Chinese school; and Hainan Assembly Hall, built as a tribute to Hainan sailors.
