How to get there
It's best to get to Ponte Romano by car, taking the SS127bis from Alghero toward Fertilia; the drive takes 10 minutes. If you prefer public transport, buses such as Linea 714 run from Alghero to Fertilia; from there, it’s a short walk to the bridge. While less common, cycling is another option, with scenic routes connecting Alghero to Ponte Romano in around 20 minutes.
When to get there
The best time to visit Ponte Romano is in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak afternoon crowds and the heat, especially if you’re visiting during the warmer months of the year. Sunset is particularly magical, casting a warm glow over the ancient stone arches and creating a fantastic setting for landscape photography.

Near Ponte Romano, there are several other historical sites worth exploring. Firstly, the Nuraghe Palmavera is an ancient stone complex dating back to the Bronze Age. Visiting this site offers a glimpse of Sardinia's prehistoric past. There’s also the Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, a large pre-Nuragic burial site that’s a 10-minute drive away.
