Sandy Lane Aqua Park is the perfect place to cool off and enjoy a picnic on a warm summer day. During the peak summer months, the Sandy Lane Ferry operates; this boat takes you across the River Dee to enjoy views of the flower-filled meadows on the other side. The Chester hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus stops are at various points along the River Dee, making it a fun way to arrive at the park.

Admission to Sandy Lane Aqua Park is free, but there’s a small charge to ride the ferry.
Bring a towel and a picnic, as there are plenty of tables and grassy areas to enjoy lunch.
There are public restrooms at the park, but they are only open during the summer.
How to get there
Sandy Lane Aqua Park is a 25-minute walk from Chester railway station in the city center, or a 5-minute drive. If arriving by car, there is parking available on Sandy Lane. From the station, you can take trains to Liverpool and Manchester, as well as smaller towns along the way.
When to get there
The Aqua Park is open from May through September, though the outdoor playgrounds remain open year-round. The Sandy Lane Ferry operates from mid-morning until late afternoon from late May until late September. The best time to visit this outdoor attraction is during the warm summer months.

Splashing in jets at Sandy Lane Aqua Park isn’t the only fun thing to do on the River Dee. There’s also an open-water swimming area and a canoe and sailing club right beside the water park, where you can hire boats and kayaks to explore further afield.
