POINT OF INTEREST

Spiaggia di Mugoni

Strada Provinciale 55, Alghero, Italy, 07041

Located on the Alghero coast, Spiaggia di Mugoni is a white sand beach situated within the bay of Porto Conte. A favorite among locals, it is fringed by pine and eucalyptus trees and offers views of the mountains near Tramariglio. Visitors come here for a peaceful spot that doesn’t feel too isolated, with parasols available to rent and beach bars for drinks by the sea.

The basics

Some travelers see Spiaggia di Mugoni from afar during sailing trips that showcase the beauty of the bay of Porto Conte and often include snorkeling, dolphin watching, beach stops, and onboard food. Others visit Spiaggia di Mugoni as a stop on guided e-bike tours, which typically explore the wonders of the Riviera del Corallo, with stops at the Roman bridge of Ponte Romano, the prehistoric Nuragic village of Palmavera, and beautiful beaches such as Spiaggia di Mugoni.

Things to know before you go

  • The water is typically shallow for several meters, making it ideal for families and those who simply want to dip their toes in.

  • Boats and kayaks can be hired at the beach and it’s possible to book snorkeling and diving trips, too.

  • Visitors are encouraged to take litter away with them.

  • Parking is typically charged by the hour so can be expensive.

How to get there

It takes around 25 minutes by car from Alghero to Spiaggia di Mugoni: drive along the SS127bis road towards Porto Conte. There’s 24-hour parking available nearby at Parcheggio Mugoni, but charges do apply. If traveling by public transport, take the Linea 9320 bus from Via Catalogna in Alghero to Mugoni—the journey is around 40 minutes.

When to get there

Peak tourist season in Sardinia typically runs from July through August; during these months, beaches such as Spiaggia di Mugoni tend to be busiest. If you can visit in the shoulder season—such as in May, June, or September—you can still enjoy warm weather, but with smaller crowds.

Food options near Spiaggia di Mugoni

Ristobar Mugoni is an excellent choice for a sunset meal at Spiaggia di Mugoni, offering fresh seafood, pasta dishes, and traditional Sardinian desserts.
