St. Anne’s Church is an interesting historical find: An Evangelical Lutheran place of worship that dates to medieval times, yet is known for its early Renaissance architecture. Navigate your way through the cloisters before heading inside where biblical art and frescoed chapels beckon, along with the on-site Museum Lutherstiege.

The basics

Visit St. Anne’s Church any time during its opening hours to light a candle, say a prayer, take a look around, or attend a Mass service. Alternatively, join one of the church’s own guided tours, which take place most days. English-speaking tours can also be organized with private guides, allowing you to learn more about the church’s links to Martin Luther and the wealthy Augsburg merchant Jacob Fugger. Another popular option is to visit for a classical music concert, which take place throughout the year and can be booked directly through the church.
