Statue of Gangnam Style

The basics

The Gangnam Style Statue is outside COEX mall, where parts of the music video were shot. Sensors detect when people are nearby and play the song to flashing lights, enabling an immersive experience where you can perform the signature dance and capture it on photo and video. The statue is easy to visit independently, though it also features on some sightseeing tours of the Gangnam district, especially those focused on K-pop and K-wave culture.

• There’s no entrance fee to view or experience the Gangnam Style Statue.

• The Statue of Gangnam Style is a must-see for K-pop and K-wave fans.

• There is often a line of visitors waiting to take photos beside the statue.

How to get there

The Gangnam Style Statue is at the east entrance of COEX Mall. Take subway line 2 to Samsung Station (Exit 6) or line 9 to Bongeunsa Station (Exit 7). You can also take a taxi to the mall or visit as part of a sightseeing tour of the Gangnam district or K-pop and K-wave culture.

When to get there

As it’s outdoors, you can visit the Gangnam Style Statue 24 hours a day. You don’t need to spend a lot of time at the statue, though be prepared for a wait during busy periods as there is often a line of visitors waiting to dance and take photos and videos of the statue.

Walk the K-Star Road

Stretching between the Apgujeong Rodeo Station (exit 2) and Cheongdam crossroads in Gangnam-gu is a section called K-Star Road. Also known as the “Hallyuwood Walk of Fame,” there are more than a dozen cute GangnamDol bear sculptures representing various K-pop stars and groups, including PSY, BTS, and Girls’ Generation. Numerous entertainment agencies are also along this road.
