Stevens Canyon Road leaves Nisqually-Longmire-Paradise Rd. about 1 mi. beyond Narada Falls. The road provides east-west access within the park seasonally. The effects of glacial and water erosion are apparent at Box Canyon, along the Cowlitz River. Picnicking is permitted a half-mile west of Box Canyon. There are excellent views of Mount Rainier, Mount Adams and the Tatoosh Range from this route, which intersects East Side Road (SR 123) 2 miles above Ohanapecosh; the best views are westbound. Picnicking is permitted.
