Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay

18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore, Singapore, 018953

The Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay is a futuristic grove of man-made, treelike vertical gardens that mimic the function of real trees. A top Singapore sight and architectural wonder that’s home to more than 160,000 plants, the Supertree Grove offers shade during the day, a light-and-sound spectacular at night, and panoramic city and garden views.

The Basics

The 12 Supertrees at the Supertree Grove stand between 82 and 164 feet (25 and 50 meters) tall and consist of canopies of steel branches above steel-and-concrete trunks fitted with planting panels. For a different perspective, head up to the OCBC Skyway, a walkway 72 feet (22 meters) in the air that runs between two of the larger Supertrees. For the best views, head to the Supertree Rooftop Bar, atop the tallest Supertree.

Visit Supertree Grove and Gardens by the Bay independently or as part of a Singapore city tour or night sightseeing tour. Additional stops and activities may include the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, a ride on the Singapore Flyer, a trishaw ride, or a river cruise.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Supertree Grove is a must-visit for first-time visitors to Singapore, horticulture fans, and architecture buffs.

  • It’s free to walk around the Supertree Grove, but there’s a fee to access the skyway.

  • There’s an entrance fee for the Supertree Rooftop Bar, which includes one drink.

  • Free Wi-Fi is available at the Supertree Grove.

How to Get There

To reach the Gardens by the Bay via public transit, take the MRT (Circle or Downtown line) to Bayfront station and use exit B. Follow the underground walkway to the end, crossing either the Dragonfly Bridge or the Meadow Bridge to the garden.

When to Get There

The Supertree Grove is beautiful during the day and magical at night. Every night at 7:45pm and 8:45pm, the Supertree Grove puts on a Garden Rhapsody light-and-music show. The music changes every month and may feature excerpts from popular movies. Get here early to grab a good spot.

Real Tree Functions

Some of the functions that the Supertrees mimic include photosynthesis, cooling the air, and irrigation, and 11 of the Supertrees have photovoltaic cells to harness solar energy. Some Supertrees also help with air intake and exhaust, which helps to cool the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories. All of the Supertrees also collect rainwater to contribute to irrigation and the fountain displays.
