POINT OF INTEREST

Telascica Nature Park

Sali, Zadar, 23000

With blue coral lagoons, dramatic limestone cliffs, and a fascinating saltwater lake, Telašćica Nature Park is one of Croatia’s most magical natural wonders. On the island of Dugi Otok in the Adriatic Sea, Telašćica offers visitors endless hiking, diving, swimming, fishing, and wildlife-viewing opportunities.

The Basics

A true jewel of the Adriatic Sea, Telašćica Nature Park spans 43 miles (69 kilometers) of rugged coastline dotted with numerous islets, coves, and bays. Explore the park’s many hiking trails and scenic viewpoints, marvel at stunning coastal scenery and unique karst formations, and go for a swim in Lake Mir, a unique narrow lake saltier than the sea.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • A fee is required to enter Telašćica Nature Park, but most guided tours include the price of admission.

  • To explore the coves and islands of Telašćica Nature Park, book a guided boat tour.

  • The parks offers several idyllic swimming spots, so don’t forget your swimsuit.

  • Pack plenty of water and snacks because the park has limited services.

How to Get There

Telašćica Nature Park is located in the southeastern edge of Croatia’s Dugi Otok island. The easiest way to get to Telašćica is by boat, and the most popular is via a guided excursion from Zadar. Telašćica can also be reached by car, foot, or bicycle from Sali, the largest town on the island of Dugi Otok.

When to Get There

Telašćica Nature Park is open to visitors year-round, but tours tend to be limited from October through April. Most restaurants and services in the park are only open during the summer months, so if you plan to visit late fall through early spring, pack all the necessities.

Visiting Neighboring Kornati National Park

Kornati National Park is a cluster of 89 islands, islets, and reefs bordering the southern end of Telašćica Nature Park. Many guided boat tours of Telašćica from Zadar include a tour of the Kornati archipelago, whose islands are largely uninhabited and feature vibrant marine life and seabird colonies.
