The basics

The Tsingtao Beer Museum ranks among the most famous attractions in Qingdao, and just about every city sightseeing tour includes a brewery tour and tasting. Tours of the museum begin with a walk through the historic exhibits outlining the century-long history of the brand through photographs, documents, and artifacts. Visitors then learn how the beer is made, before entering the active production facility to see the process in action. The experience ends with samples in a bar area.

How to get there

Qingdao Beer Museum is located in a two-story red building at No. 56, Dengzhou Road. Several public buses stop at the museum, including Sightseeing Bus 12. Look for the Qingdao Pijiu Bowuguan stop.

When to get there

The museum is open daily throughout the year, with longer hours during the summer high season (July to September). Admission is a bit cheaper (and the museum is less crowded) between October and June. Avoid visiting on Chinese national holidays.

The Tsingtao Drunk Room

While touring the museum, don’t miss the Drunk Room. Visitors pass through a beer bottle-shaped doorway and into a space with a slanted floor and funhouse optics, meant to simulate the sensation of feeling drunk.
