Victoria Falls Crocodile Farm
325 Park Way, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
As the second largest crocodilian on earth, the Nile crocodile is a top predator in the Zambezi River and around Victoria Falls. Get up close and personal with these reptiles at the Crocodile Farm in Victoria Falls—a nature park designed to educate the public about these fierce creatures.
The basics
Originally established in the 1950s in response to declining crocodile numbers, the Crocodile Farm collected and hatched more than 2,000 eggs, then returned more than 100 three-year-old crocs back into the wild in order to boost the species’ population. Thanks to the farm’s efforts, wild crocodile numbers are now soaring.
While some visitors may not want to get close to Nile crocodiles in the wild, this park offers you the opportunity to learn about their natural habitat and species traits with an informative guide. Most multi-day tours of Victoria Falls includes a stop at the Crocodile Farm.
Things to know before you go

How to get there
The Crocodile Farm is located near the A’Zambezi River Lodge and Zambezi Nature Sanctuary, located along the banks of the Zambezi River. Guided tours provide transportation to the park.
When to get there
To witness a feeding session plan your arrival for the 10:15 am and 3:45 pm eating times. Hatching season for crocodiles typically falls between December and January, so consider planning your visit during that time to make sure you have the opportunity to see a baby crocodile.
Nile Crocodiles vs. American Alligators
While both reptiles are undoubtedly large, toothy, and fearsome, there are some specific differences that separate the two prehistoric beasts. American alligators are the smaller of the two species, topping out at around 15 feet (5 meters) long, while its Nile cousin can grow to an impressive 20 feet (6 meters). Head shape is also another major difference, with gators sporting a broader and rounder shape when compared to the crocs’ more narrow and triangular skull.
