Yup Star Ferris Wheel
Ac. Três Fronteiras 386, Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, 85855-240
One of Latin America’s largest Ferris wheels, the Yup Star Ferris Wheel boasts views of the intersection of the Brazilian, Argentinian, and Paraguayan borders; it’s one of the few places on the continent where you can see three countries from a single vantage point. Plus, air-conditioned carriages provide respite from the tropical and humid climate of Foz do Iguacu.
The basics
If staying on the Brazilian side of Foz do Iguacu, most travelers add a stop at the Yup Star Ferris Wheel to trips to Iguazu Falls, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Day trips to the world’s largest waterfall system can include everything from helicopter rides to boat rides into the water on the Argentinian side. The panoramic wheel is a staple of Foz do Iguacu sightseeing tours, which typically combine it with the Marco das Três Fronteiras obelisk, which marks the intersection of the three countries.
Things to know before you go
Admission tickets for the Ferris Wheel cost around US$15 for adults, with discounts for children and seniors.
Pets are allowed in the Yup Star Ferris Wheel carriages.
The wheel is accessible for wheelchair users and strollers; there are ramps to help you board the carriage.
How to get there
You can find the Yup Star Ferris Wheel on Ac. Três Fronteiras in Foz do Iguacu on the Brazilian side of the border. If you’re arriving by car, there’s a dedicated parking lot beside the wheel. It’s difficult to reach by public transport, but rideshare services are active in Foz do Iguacu.
When to get there
Yup Star Ferris Wheel is open from late morning until mid-evening. It’s the ideal place to watch the sunset over the three borders, but sunset tickets are popular and can sell out in advance—it’s worth booking ahead of time. A full rotation on the wheel takes 20 minutes.
The highlights of Iguazu Falls
Visiting Iguazu Falls is one of the highlights of any South America trip. The most noteworthy parts of the circuit, which straddles both Brazil and Argentina, include the Devil’s Throat, where a trail takes you to the edge of three cascades plunging from three sides, and Upper Circuit hiking train, guiding you over the water through dense jungle.
