AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
This was architect John Portman’s first-of-its-kind atrium hotel, a massive open-air space with a skylight ceiling and scenic glass elevators to take it all in. Guest rooms are located in three towers with slight variations in the décor. Rooms in the Atrium and International give a traditional conference-hotel vibe, with your choice of a king or two queen beds, a large desk and good-size bathroom. Rooms in the retro-futuristic Radius, a glass-enclosed cylinder, are fairly compact but still accommodate a single queen bed, desk and easy chair tidily. Its bathrooms are all shower-only with groovy mosaic tile that reflects yesteryear. Multiple restaurants are on site, including Polaris, a revolving restaurant housed beneath the blue dome “space ship” perched above the Atrium tower’s roof.
