AAA Diamond Inspector Notes

The upscale hotel is on the streetcar line and its downtown location is not too far from the French Quarter and other area attractions, such as the Superdome. The rooms have a luxurious vibe. The charging tower at the desk is perfect for getting all of your electronics charged up. The appealing on-site lounge and restaurants are pluses. Smoke free premises. 484 units, some two bedrooms and kitchens. 15 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Hotel lobby is lovely and the vibe is classy yet very festive especially during Mardi Gras. It’s perfectly located along a parade route. Getting dropped off directly at the hotel is a bit tricky depending on the parade schedule, so be prepared to walk at least a block. Staff and rooms are great. Easily walkable to Canal Street and French Quarter. My only complaint was that the pillows are extremely large and firm. Don’t miss the restaurant directly across the street called LUKE. It is known for their amazing shrimp and grits amongst many other dishes.

Great location for our needs and everyone there was quite accommodating. The room was well-appointed and comfortable. We had to stay an extra night as we were there to start a river cruise, which had to start a day late, and the hotel smoothly handled everything.

Public spaces: They felt warn or unwelcoming. I’m speaking mainly of the pool area (closed during winter) and 5th floor outdoor space. I was hoping to find an outdoor lounge vibe. Also the lobby fills up with smoke from the restaurant in the evenings. Room: I hate hotels that have mini fridges but have it fully stocked and they charge for each item based on a sensor. I’d like to use the mini fridge to keep my leftovers cold and my water cold. It’s a waste of space. I understand why it’s done but don’t like it. The blow dryer was broken.
