La Quinta Inn & Suites Salem

At checkout in A.M. rude girl at front desk: “Put your key in there.” No “hello” or other greeting. The toilet in our room was not flushing well on arrival. 8:30 next morning, wouldn’t flush at all. Girl at desk said “Tech arrives at 9:00.” We were on our way out, so used toilets in swimming pool reception area. I asked for a receipt for our stay and was told she couldn’t give me a receipt “because you booked through Expedia.” I booked through AAA, and I’ve always gotten a receipt showing my stay was completed on X-date. I asked to speak to the manager, and was told “You can wait for the manager but she’ll say the same thing.” I told her the amount paid didn’t matter to me, but rather that I needed proof I had stayed. She eventually gave me an absolutely blank piece of paper with the hotel name on it. No “thank you,” no “good-bye.” Horrid breakfast. Won’t be back.

We stayed here over the weekend for a quick visit. The location is great, and we liked the complimentary breakfast. The staff was exceptional and very friendly. Our room however seemed less than subpar. The beds were hard as a rock, the tv in room is tiny for the size of the room itself, and the walls are paper thin.

A bit disappointed to find pool closed after long hot dusty day; chose location in part because of pool. Also would have been good to know the only queen rooms are disabled, which I did not need. Otherwise a good option, a bit spendy. Nice place with good breakfast.
