AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
This grand 1930s hotel overlooking Rock Creek Park features sprawling landscaped grounds and a magnificent terraced lobby accented by crystal chandeliers and an elegant historic style. The beautiful landscaped gardens, complete with a domed gazebo and hammocks, slope down to overlook Rock Creek Park. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated with dark wood furniture, upgraded bedding and flat-panels TVs. Guests can choose rooms with park or city views, and some rooms even offer a balcony. Guest baths are compact, however, they offer luxurious appointments with marble floors and granite vanities. Gracious and attentive services are fitting to such elegant surroundings. Since its opening in 1930 the hotel has seen many celebrities and politicos grace its halls, from stars such as Liza Minelli performing in the Blue Room to Tip O'Neill's weekly poker game. Those who are supernaturally inclined will find interest in the Ghost Suite and the odd occurrences it has seen. Guest rooms in the rear of the building are decorated to the same tasteful standards; however, they are a bit more compact. Pets are accepted but must weigh 25 pounds and less. Guests will also enjoy 24-hour room service. Free wifi in public spaces. Smoke free premises. 836 units, some two bedrooms. 5-8 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

It is a very nice hotel in a nice area. The staff was attentive and pleasant. VERY expensive plan on a lot of tipping. Prices for items at the hotel are actually higher than in town and they are high in town. If price is no object and like being pampered this is your place, ENJOY.

This is a beautiful old hotel whose outdoor spaces are absolutely lovely. The Omni Shoreham's in a terrific location as well. The rooms are larger than most. I've stayed here before and had better rooms than this time. My room--#137--was at the end of a hallway on the first floor, which is halfway underground given how the hotel is situated. At least, my room was half underground, like an English-basement apartment. Previously, I'd been in rooms on the 2nd floor and higher. But the thing that disappointed me was the air conditioning in the room. It worked, but not great; I turned down the temp but the actual temperature didn't change much and it didn't get cooler that I could tell (I wanted 68-69; never got below 73 and was a little humid). I admit I didn't say anything to the management, as I was out of the room most of the afternoon and evening, and was too tired to have someone come to the room.. Moving the curtains away from the AC vents helped a bit, and I slept okay. The king bed was very comfortable. I would stay here again; I'd just request not. to stay on the first floor, and would be more diligent about asking the hotel to fix the problem or put me in a different room.

A very beautiful, well-maintained hotel with professional staff and a lot of amenities, including a very attractive pool.
Poor customer service during check in. The night manager and the front desk clerk were very rude.
