The resort was average but I wouldn't say it exceeded my expectations or gave me a WOW factor by any stretch. Our accommodations were a bit dated but clean, restaurants were nice as were the other outlets, pool areas we also enjoyable in addition to the optional activities. The staff... absolutely fantastic! Rosie at reception, Omar, Leo, Jared and Jerimiah at the pool restaurant/bar especially! If you are looking for somewhere to relax you found it but beyond 10pm it is a ghost town and there are NO open options for entertainment or F&B outside of room service. We were expecting and hoping for some sort of evening entertainment option. Prior to arrival I was double checking trip details and was pretty disappointed to find out that the room type description on AAA didn't match the resort so when I thought I was a Deluxe Familia Suite I was actually just booking a standard room with two beds. Booking with AAA to have a perceived safer booking experience at a slight discount actually cost me more. I received no help from AAA or the resort to resolve the room type issue. Also booking through AAA the airport transportation was not included however if you book direct it is. Transportation was an additional $129 round trip. And lastly when you think you are prepaid with AAA you actually are not. The resort charged me an additional resort tax/fee that wasn't included in the AAA price. So, beware of hidden fees and incorrect room descriptions!
