The Statler Hotel gave us a delightful stay from check-in to departure. Only complaint I could have is that this came at a premium price and also their billing statements were rather hard to understand -- it's possible they billed me twice for parking, for which $20 a day seems a little much for a relatively small city. The staff at the desk moved us around into adjoining rooms even though we got our reservations through AAA and therefore they didn't have easy access to our computerized bill. The rooms were great, with a refrigerator, without freezer (I would have used one if they had it), and no microwave, and the modern fetish for huge bathrooms. They had 2 restaurants (both breakfasts and dinners were top flight), and everything was spotless and elegant. Even the maids were beautifully turned out in black and white uniforms. The university has a school of hotel management and I suspect they are using this hotel as the example of excellence. They've succeeded.
