Elephant Caves are situated on Elephanta Island, which is located about 10 km and an hour away from the Gateway of India by boat, and have been dated back to the 4th-5th century BC. The Elephanta Caves tour will give you an opportunity to learn about the history of the Hindu God Lord Shiva, creator, protector and transformer of the universe. Your tour guide, an Elephanta Island resident, will lead you through this UNESCO World Heritage Site which is a must-see and fill you in on all the lesser-known details surrounding the history of the caves.
