About Charlevoix Its early history linked to the stormy affairs of the Mormon monarchy on Beaver Island, Charlevoix is an enterprising resort center. Lakes Michigan and Charlevoix offer excellent beaches and opportunities for boating. Round Lake, lying between the two, provides the city with its fine yacht harbor. The city offers band shell musical entertainment during July and August.
Charlevoix is on US 31, a scenic route that follows the shore between Traverse City and Petoskey.
