About MiddletownOn Raritan Bay, Middletown is the largest township in the Northern Monmouth area. A semblance of Colonial-era atmosphere manages to prevail along some residential streets, where ancient shade trees tower over large old houses. A few 17th-century structures still stand, including Marlpit Hall, a 1756 Dutch Colonial house at 137 Kings Hwy., that contains furnishings from the mid-18th century. The house is open to the public Friday through Sunday from May through September; phone (732) 462-1466.

To pass inspection, all hotels must meet the same rigorous standards for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. These hotels receive a AAA Diamond designation that tells members what type of experience to expect.
