93 Park (Parque 93)
Parque 93, Bogotá, Colombia
93 Park (Parque 93) is so much more than a grassy square in the center of Bogotá—it’s one of the cultural centerpieces of the city. Located in El Chicó, a well-to-do neighborhood within the city’s Chapinero district, the park is often frequented by Bogotá’s wealthiest. If you plan to take a stroll through here, be prepared to be surrounded by the local jet-set crowd.
The basics
Chapinero is renowned for being the epicenter of Bogotá’s nightlife, and its status means that Park 93 is a regular feature on walking and nightlife tours of the district. Colombian models and actors are known to come to El Chicó to sample some of the city’s best craft beers and cocktails, so grab a drink yourself and prove your salsa skills on the dance floor at one of the many bars on the outskirts of the park. When you start feeling hungry, consider ordering a steak at a nearby restaurant.
Things to know before you go
- Surfaces are even and there are plenty of paces to sit, so it’s perfectly wheelchair- and stroller-accessible.
- There are often coffee kiosks inside Park 93, as well as cafés serving excellent Colombian coffee on the park’s border.
- Nightlife tours of Bogotá may also guide you around the nearby bustling party neighborhood of Zona Rosa (also known as Zona T), where Latin music permeates the air and the Colombian spirit is at its most vibrant.
How to get there
Within a 1-minute walk of the park, there are two bus stops that are serviced by more than 30 routes between them. If you want to skip the hassle of public transit, opt to take a sightseeing tour that includes hassle-free transport.
When to get there
Park 93 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Even though this part of the city is considered safe, it’s best to avoid visiting late at night. The park has a jam-packed program of events, including art, book, and yoga festivals; check the official Parque 93 website for the exact dates.
What to do in Chapinero
Characterized by glitzy malls, mountainside residences, and pumping nightlife, the Chapinero district offers a glimpse into the lives of Bogotá’s rich and famous. If you’re looking to see a more local side of the city, it’s a great alternative to La Candeleria. Top attractions include the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Museum (Casa Museo Jorge Eliecer Gaitán) and Paloquemao market (Plaza de Mercado Paloquemao), one of the best and most authentic food markets in Bogotá.
