Ajman Beach

Al Rumailah 2, Ajman, United Arab Emirates

Unfurling around 10 miles (16 kilometers) of silky sands, baby-blue seas, and palm-lined promenades, Ajman Beach is a serious crowd-puller. Sunbathers and sports enthusiasts flock to its open-to-all public sections, laze on the sun loungers of its private hotel zones, and enjoy the different activities available, including parasailing, camel rides, and kayaking.

The basics

Extending from Ajman’s Al Rumailah district in the city’s southwest to Ajman Marina to the northeast, Ajman Beach offers wide expanses of pale-and-amber sands fringed by upscale hotels, waterfront parks, and a corniche dotted with restaurants and cafés. While parts of the beach are given over to private hotels, the public sections are ideal for catching the rays, swimming, kite-flying, and sunset-watching.

Some organized tours of Ajman and neighboring Sharjah feature a drive along Ajman Corniche to see the beach. A beach photo-stop is also included in several full-day excursions from Dubai that visit selected emirates, combining Ajman with near-neighbors like Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Things to know before you go

  • Ajman Beach is great for sunbathers, swimmers, families, and ocean and sports buffs.

  • Water sports rentals like Jet Skis, kayaks, and paddleboards are available along the sands.

  • Bring sunscreen, sunhats, water, and sun umbrellas.

  • Showers, restrooms, and picnic areas dot the public beachfronts.

How to get there

Ajman Beach is easy to find. If you’re driving from Dubai or Sharjah, follow Sharjah’s coastal S101 road into Ajman’s Al Rumailah district at the southerly end of the beach; you should find parking along the sands. Alternatively, take a cab, Uber, or Careem, or catch the regular E400 bus from Dubai to Ajman’s Union National Bank stop, a roughly 20-minute stroll or short cab ride from the beach.

When to get there

The best time to visit Ajman Beach is during the November–April tourist season, when the UAE’s fierce summers melt into milder, cooler weather. Average highs in January hover around a comfortable 75°F (24°C). If you prefer your sands quieter, consider swapping the typically busy weekends and afternoons for weekday early mornings or evenings—the latter often mean fantastic sunset views.

Nearby Ajman Heritage District

After a morning on Ajman Beach, take in the sights at the Ajman Heritage District, about a 20-minute walk or short cab ride from the corniche. Trace Ajman’s roots at the Ajman Museum inside 18th-century Ajman Fort, then head to the nearby Liwara Al Shaabi restaurant for an authentic Emirati lunch. Here, feast on favorites like lamb nashif—succulent lamb stew—and syrupy luqaimat balls to set yourself up for a lazy afternoon.
