The basics

Tasting experiences at the Alaskan Brewing Company include a little background on the history of the state's brewing industry, with displays of artifacts and collector beer bottles and cans. Guests can look in on the brewing and bottling operations before sitting down for a guided tasting of six 4-ounce (120-milliliter) samples brewed right in Juneau. You don’t have to sign up for a tasting to order your own flight or full pour from the tasting room, where you can also fill up cans or growlers to take home with you.

How to get there

The Alaskan Brewing Company is 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of downtown Juneau. If you’re not driving, you can take bus #4, which stops a 5-minute walk from the brewery, or take a taxi.

When to get there

The brewery is open daily throughout the year, with shorter hours during the winter (October to April). Guided tastings are only available during the summer (May to September), and need to be booked in advance.

The company’s eight flagship brews are almost always on tap, but the real draws are the specialty and seasonal beers that are often unavailable anywhere else.
