• Though the Anse Marcel Beach Resort takes over most the beach, they are accommodating to day-trippers. Expect small fees for lounge chairs and towels.

How to Get There

Anse Marcel is on the island’s northern tip. Drivers should use caution is reaching the beach at night since the hills in and out are steep and the road is not well lit. Parking can be found at the neighboring Radisson Hotel, a short walk from the beach.

When to Get There

Anse Marcel is a public beach, open year-round to everyone, and crowds gather in the morning and early afternoon. Travelers to St. Martin/Sint Maarten may find cheaper rates for flights and hotels during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. The weather is pleasant year-round, with summer months being the hottest. Visit from February to June for a chance to see Humpback whales migrating off the coast.

National Nature Reserve of St. Martin

Next door to Anse Marcel is a vast nature reserve where travelers can discover the island’s incredible biodiversity. Seabirds such as frigates, terns, brown pelicans, and Northern gannets make homes on rocky cliffs and beaches, and iguanas sunbathe on the rocks. Over in the mangroves and salt ponds, racoons and mongoose feed on crabs, and sea turtles lay eggs on the islets.
