The basics

After hiking, horseback riding, or sightseeing in Agadir, you might find yourself ready for a massage. Argan Palace is easy to visit independently— free transport from the Agadir area is included with your massage, hammam, or spa package (typically a 1 to 4-hour ritual centered around beauty and wellness). Most treatments use products made with Moroccan argan oil. Many tour operators take guests here.

Things to know before you go

• Bring a spare pair of underwear that you don’t especially value for your massage treatment, as the oil can stain your clothing.

• There’s an on-site store selling beauty products made from local argan oil.

• You can book a private hammam for an additional cost if you prefer not to use the shared hammam.

• Argan Palace is not wheelchair-accessible.

How to get there

Argan Palace is in downtown Agadir by the Raja Agadir soccer field, about a 1-mile (1.5-kilometer) walk northwest of the main intercity bus station. Agadir’s public transit system is not easily accessible from the city’s hotels, so most travelers use the spa’s free transport service or take a taxi.

When to get there

Argan Palace is open from morning until lunch and from early afternoon till early evening, seven days a week, with a lunch break in the middle of the day. It’s busiest during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), but it’s always worth booking ahead to avoid a wait and ensure the treatment you want is available.

Argan oil

Argan oil comes from the kernel of the argan fruit, which grows on spiny trees that attract tree-climbing goats—although the goats are generally placed there for tourism purposes. It’s a signature product of Morocco, where it’s used both for food and cosmetics. When buying, look for argan oil produced by Berber women in cooperatives rather than industrially manufactured oils.
