Bluewaters Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The purpose-built island of Bluewaters Dubai is one of the city’s most glamorous shopping, entertainment, and residential hubs, connected to mainland Dubai by road and pedestrian bridges. Visitors can relax at its oceanside restaurants and beach clubs, enjoy the stores and attractions along its tree-lined plazas, and take in its signature sight, the Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel.

The basics

You can explore and enjoy Bluewaters Dubai independently in your own time, or join one of the scenic land and sea tours that showcase the island and its sights.

View the island from the water by booking a yacht, speedboat, abra boat, or Jet Ski excursion over the Persian Gulf. Other coastal landmarks are often included on boat tours, such as the Atlantis, The Palm, and the sail-shaped Burj Al-Arab. Most trips leave from Dubai Marina, and some cruises include on-board breakfast, lunch, or buffet dinner. A variety of car, e-scooter, walking, and evening Dubai city-lights tours also make stops on Bluewaters, as do hop-on hop-off buses.

Things to know before you go

How to get there

Bluewaters fringes the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) coastline of Dubai and is accessible by car, cab, bus, boat, or foot. If driving, follow the Sheikh Zayed Road south and take exit 29 once past Dubai Marina Mall. Alternatively, ride the metro to Jebel Ali station to catch Bluewaters-bound buses, take a tram to JBR 2 and walk across the JBR footbridge, or catch water taxis from Dubai Marina Mall marine station.

When to get there

The best time to visit Bluewaters is in the relative cool of the morning or later in the afternoon. Consider combining shopping with lunch or catch the sunset with dinner. Many stores and attractions are open from morning till late, sometimes with a short afternoon break, and with longer hours at weekends. The island also hosts regular special events from December to February, including firework displays, Christmas entertainment, and spectacular drone shows.

Family attractions at Bluewaters Dubai

There’s plenty to entertain kids at Bluewaters, especially if you’re looking for options out of the Dubai sun. Indoor family attractions include Madame Tussauds Dubai and the Tr88house, a state-of-the-art entertainment center complete with glow-in-the-dark mini golf, trampolines, laser tag, and a food court.
