Boulevard Brewing Company

Boulevard’s first barrels were produced in equipment straight from Bavaria, in a modest building on KC’s historic Southwest Boulevard—hence the brewery’s name. Today, the brewery still operates at its original location, but visitors will find the famous 10,000-square-foot beer hall, gift shop, and all tours happening around the corner, on nearby Madison Avenue.

A massive facility, the first floor welcomes guests with beer-focused exhibits and merch; the second floor is dedicated to the aforementioned beer hall where 24 beers rotate across the taps; and the fourth-floor, adults-only Rec Deck offers games like shuffleboard and foosball.

• Public brewery tours require tickets, which are released weekly and can be bought online.

• Food—like soft pretzels, charcuterie, and flatbreads—can be found in the beer hall and the Rec Deck.

• Both floors (and subsequently, the tours) are ADA-accessible. That being said, strollers are not permitted.

Boulevard’s public-facing space—where all the tours and fun happen—can be found at 2534 Madison Ave, in Kansas City, Missouri. Free parking is available onsite. If you’d like to imbibe without worrying about driving, the Southwest Boulevard/West 25th Street bus stop is right on the corner; rideshares, like Uber and Lyft, are also a popular way to visit.

The beer hall is open every day of the week, though don’t picture a late-night spot—Boulevard’s latest hours are around 9pm. And even though this place is massive, it can get quite busy; to avoid the crowds, come before the after-work crowd descends. If you like a little commotion with your brews, dinner’s time to imbibe.

Boulevard technically offers three tours: Public Brewery tours, the most popular option, which includes four 5-ounce brews provided during and after; the Smokestack Tour, which highlights the brewery’s Smokestack Series and offers some small bites; and the Unfiltered tour, a 2-hour weekend-only tour that goes deeper into the science and deeper behind the scenes.
